As sailing still was insignificant in Europe, the first Polynesians even cruised the pacific by multi-hull-constructions and made superb nautical performance without having a compass or a sextant!
For a long time "Multis" have been relatively ignored or they have been reserved for some individualists who had to create their dream ship on their own.
Nevertheless, during the last twenty years the sailing world’s public interest in multi-hull-constructions has been growing vast.


Though today modern yachts are increasingly designed to do relatively high speed, in the 21st century catamarans and trimarans still are the most effective connection between available space and speed potential. A well designed and well constructed "multi-hull" under sails will usually be twice as fast as a mono-hull-yacht with comparable length and it will offer substantially more living space . Power-Cats combine this space-potential with lower fuel consumption by higher speed potential and perfect stability.

However, the existing offer of catamarans and trimarans only includes a few models which actually realise the symbiosis between spatial advantages of "Multis" and their much higher speed besides aesthetics and pleasing design. Even smaller than the amount of offered models is the amount of qualified manufacturers. Spectaculous insolvencies in the recent past led to a further removal of offer. In addition companies pursue irresponsible economic strategies like providing untested constructions and having outdated attitudes towards speed, space and style.
